Pondlife Angels

it’s early morning and she’s standing in her bedroom looking down on cork

right down to the quays people are out of their cars and looking up at her house in gurrnabraher

she’s wearing her minnie mouse nightshirt and for the first time she realises it’s covered in her own blood.

they’re waiting for her.

Specially commissioned for the European Capital of Culture: Cork, 2005 pondlife angels traces a desperate day in the life of a Cork city checkout girl…mapping out her ever-more nightmarish and frenetic journey through the streets of Cork, as she tries to make sense of her unravelling reality.

A comedy, a love story, a murder mystery, a soap opera, a super natural thriller, all taking place in the split second between life and death.

pondlife angels ran at the Granary Theatre from the 14-25th of June 2005 as part of Cork Midsummer Festival.
