Cleaner

An alternative adult fairytale about a woman who falls in love with her sweeping brush. Using a combination of puppetry, dance and domestic cleaning products, Martha relives loves lost, loves dreamed and loves endured…

 Cleaner was conceived by Medb Lambert, and developed with director Donal Gallagher. An experiment in object theatre the piece was created over a number of months in a warehouse, an old shoe factory on a rocky island off the west coast, a disused church, a converted cow shed and in the directors’ own kitchen. Cleaner saw its first public outing in July 2006, as a work in progress at the Áras Éanna Arts Centre, Inis Oírr after a week-long residency.
